If you are planning a new commercial or industrial project or business in the Town of Crossfield, we recommend starting with a pre-planning meeting with our Development & Planning team.
Book a Pre-Planning Meeting
Before submitting any applications, please contact the Development Office to schedule a meeting:
What is a Pre-Planning Meeting?
A pre-planning meeting is an opportunity to discuss your proposal with Town staff before submitting a formal application.
During this meeting, we will:
- Review your proposed project or business
- Confirm land use and zoning requirements
- Identify any approvals that may be required (Development Permit, Building Permit, etc.)
- Outline application requirements, timelines, and fees
- Highlight any potential challenges or considerations early
How to Prepare
To make the most of your meeting, it is helpful to have:
- A general description of your project or business
- The property address or legal land description
- Any concept drawings or site ideas (if available)
You do not need finalized plans — early discussions are encouraged.
Important
Meeting with the Development Office does not guarantee approval, but it can help identify requirements early and avoid delays later in the process.
What Happens Next?
After your pre-planning meeting, you may be directed to:
- Submit a Development Permit application
- Apply for a Building Permit
- Explore Land Use Redesignation (if your proposal does not align with current zoning)
- Explore Subdivision possibilities
