Emergencies can happen at any time—train derailments, severe weather, fires, or other unexpected events can disrupt daily life quickly. Staying informed and prepared helps you and your family respond safely.
Emergency Management in Crossfield
The Town of Crossfield has an Emergency Management Team in place and participates in regular training to prepare for emergency situations. The Town is also a partner in the Rocky View Regional Emergency Management Plan, working closely with neighbouring municipalities to coordinate response efforts when needed.

During an Emergency
- Call 911 if you witness an emergency
- Follow instructions from local emergency officials
- Be prepared to shelter-in-place or evacuate if directed
- Continue monitoring updates (Voyent Alert!, Alberta Emergency Alert, Town channels, local media)
- Ensure information comes from trusted sources (Town of Crossfield sources, local emergency officials, provincial or federal authorities, etc.)
If evacuating:
- Do not return to town or your property until officials confirm it is safe to do so
- Reception centres may be established (location will be communicated during the event)
- Make arrangements for pets
Note: pets may not be permitted in reception centres except certified assistance animals - Check on family, friends, and neighbours—especially those who may need assistance
After an Emergency
After an emergency, take steps to safely restore your home and property:
- Check your home for damage before entering
- Inspect utilities (power, gas, water, sewer) and consult professionals if needed
- Contact your insurance provider and document damage with photos or video
- Dispose of spoiled or contaminated food
