A secondary suite is a self-contained dwelling unit within a primary residence.
In the Town of Crossfield, secondary suites are not automatically permitted and are reviewed case-by-case. Approval is at the Town’s discretion and depends on factors such as zoning, site layout, parking, servicing, and neighbourhood context.
A secondary area within a principal dwelling that contains a kitchen, sleeping and bathroom facilities, and is or is capable of being, a self contained dwelling unit, may be deemed a Secondary Suite, regardless of whether it is intended to be used as such.
