Municipal Election

Municipal Elections and Town Council

In Alberta, municipalities are required by the Province to hold general elections every four years to elect the Town Council. If a vacancy occurs during a term—due to resignation, death, or other reasons—a by-election may be held to fill the position.

The Town Council serves as the governing body of the municipality, holding legislative and administrative authority as outlined in the Municipal Government Act. Council’s decisions are made through bylaws or resolutions, ensuring proper governance.

Council is responsible for guiding the growth, direction, and sustainability of Crossfield. It oversees administration in delivering vital services to residents, including traffic enforcement, road and public works maintenance, property assessments, land development, fire and emergency services, police, and recreational facilities.

The most recent general municipal election was held on Monday, October 20, 2025, to elect the current Council members.

Office Number of Seats

The Town of Crossfield follows the procedures set out in the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA). Additional policies or bylaws may also be established to support voters, candidates, and scrutineers throughout the election process.
